Pompeii was an ancient city located in south Italy. The city, a colony of the Roman Empire, flourished around the 2nd century BC. But, in AD 79, Mt. Vesuvius erupted causing everything in the city to be buried beneath ash. Amazing well developed culture. Amazing great dedication and effort by archeologists.
